Claude Cowork is Anthropic's attempt to package agentic workflows for organisations that do not have a platform team. It launched alongside the Small Business push, and it targets the 44% of US GDP that runs on five-to-fifty-person operations. Where Claude Code is the IDE surface and Claude for Enterprise is the platform surface, Cowork is the operations surface.

What is actually in the box
Fifteen pre-built agentic workflows — month-end close (QuickBooks + PayPal), invoice chasing (HubSpot), campaign management (Canva), contract handling (DocuSign), and ten more in the same vein.
